Dr. Pham Van Dien’s doctoral research focused on the simulation, fabrication, and characterization of GHz–THz electromagnetic-wave absorbers based on defect-engineered, lattice-twisted, and coding metamaterial structures.

His dissertation investigated electromagnetic-wave absorption from the GHz to THz ranges using metamaterial architectures built from structural defects, network rotation, and coding strategies.

The work combined full-wave numerical design with physical interpretation of broadband absorption, aiming at structures relevant to communication, sensing, electromagnetic protection, and radar-related applications.
